very helpful book

I work on a team that develops special geriatric healthcare programs and I bought this book to help me with my new job. This book has already been extremely helpful in my work. It's easy to read and understand. My only criticism is that sometimes I wish it was a little more in depth or detailed, but that might just be me and my thirst for knowledge. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend this book to anyone working with older adults.

Clear, Concise, Useful Textbook

Here's a short and sweet review:

This textbook is both clear and concise. The subject matter is well-organized and easy to navigate. I find it one of my more "readable" nursing texts, with good information that's not dry or too dense. The side bars are helpful and provide useful insights. The authors include both "Implications" and "Interventions" in each section, giving practical, real-world, evidence-based care solutions for various challenges, taking this text from merely rote academics to applicable tools. I have applied a few of the solutions (i.e.: establishing therapeutic connections with elders by encouraging open reminiscing) and found them to be very affective and helpful.

With a population whose average age is rapidly increasing, you may find this textbook to be very helpful as I have. I would highly recommend it for nurses, nursing students, and moreover their professors to use as a textbook for gerontological nursing instruction.

REINCARNATION IN ITS INFANTILE STAGE

First heard about the Bridey Murphy case in my youth growing up on the island of Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands back in 1955. I was fascinated by the 'other' life or 'other' side since I was exposed to a death-and-back experience in 1954 on Kauai. Bridey Murphy is a very easy, casual read. Pages whiz by quickly, and 220+ pages of read was made up of mainly dialogue between Berstein and his patient/s. Highly recommend this book!!

This is a well-written, fascinating book -- a breakthrough text for its time, that still rings true today. If you have any interest (or skepticism) regarding the idea of past lives, this book is an excellent start, written by a man who was himself convinced at first that everyone lives only one life on this Earth--and then found through his own experience as a trained hypnotist that the opposite is true. Highly recommend.

Excellent!

Excellent book. And I have read others on the topic. She goes into a list of therapies, some I was unfamiliar with. So I am glad i got this book. I saw a lot of comments on a website from the UK about this women embarrassing herself,, she should get a life ....blah blah blah. For one thing she has a life "embarrassing" herself so the rest of us don't feel so alone. I am stilt obsessed with someone I fell for in the forth grade and I am well into middle age. People told me to forget him and i did. moved away and demanded nobody speak his name to me. But the damage remained and carried into my other relationships..all just as obsessive but none as unrequited. Then memories of us started coming back that I still can't believe even happened. Anyway i am now "into" this author and plan to read some of her other books

Really helpful and insightful read.

Liz Hodgkinson's experience of being love-sick and heartbroken has helped me overcome my own experiences. Although I do not consider my "crush" to be obsessive it is certainly unrequited and trying to move on has been difficult. This book was very helpful as it showed me that I am not the only one to have felt such strong emotions and had difficulty over-coming them. I have seen now how, if not sorted, this love will affect my life so I am following Liz Hodgkinson's advice and trying the Alexander technique. I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who has experienced an obsessive crush, it is an insightful read that has given me a real confidence boost to try and take back my life and find someone who loves me in return. Thank you Liz Hodgkinson.

This book is a must read for all leaders and those contemplating leadership. I believe the concepts for how to build an atmosphere of trust are practical. The authors' suggestions for how to take the necessary steps and approaches in becoming a trusted leader and building a culture of trust are well structured and definitely doable.

I know a couple of school leaders who need to read this book ASAP! Perhaps I will gift them with a copy.

Every principal should read this book. The author provides concrete examples of how to build and how to destroy trust. There is some repetition, in that some ways to break trust are the opposite action of how to build trust, however, the book gives the reader prompts to self-assess each behavior. I'd like to gift it to some school leaders I know who are having difficulty getting initiatives off the ground due to issues with culture and trust.
